Suggestion lists appear without focus when Visual Assist believes you are adding a new variable or function. In such cases, suggestions are typically invalid.
You can force suggestion lists to have focus in all circumstances by setting the following Binary Value in the registry:
HKCU\Software\Whole Tomato\Visual Assist X\<IDE spec>\ListboxSelectionStyle = 02
Set to 01 for the default behavior.
